On a brisk Tuesday afternoon, the Beacon Girl’s Varsity Softball team journeyed with bats in hand to East RiverPark to start their season against the High School of Graphic Communication Arts. Led by their coach, Richard Miller, the team played a great game and won by a shutout with a score of 20-0. The Beacon girls had 10 hits, stole several bases and hustled like it was there last game. There were big hits by junior Hasnah Farraj, and senior captain Andrea Jimenez. Junior pitcher Devinne Gallagher, had 10 strikeouts. In 2008 Devinne was ranked as the #1 pitcher in the Manhattan BII league and 5th in all PSAL in strikeouts.
